Bites of My Life

Work isn't slowing down, and neither is anything else. I'm not mad about it though. When things are busy, more gets done and in my experience more fun is had. It's like when you have barely time to do anything, you try to slip in as much fun as you can have.

-Celebrated 4 years of teaching barre3 for sis last week! Still killing the game even 7 months preggo!
-Sweetly surprised when my drink order came out pink unknowingly. Order this: the sweet almond herbal tea from Elemental Coffee, add steamed almond milk.
-A little post-college Monmouth Duo party.
-A summer version of my go-to lunch!
-When the craving comes on strong and you can't leave the grocery store parking lot without ripping open the bag of popcorn. I wish I could say this doesn't happen often...
-First time trying Chick-n-Beer! With none other than my adventurous eating PIC, dad!
-It's too convenient that my new favorite coffee shop is walking distance from my work.
-Bibimbap is one of my family's favorite things at our favorite restaurant in the city. Kathleen's version comes in a very close second.
-The Hall's Pizza Kitchen officially opens today! Got a sneak peek last Friday and already have plans to go back this week. Their burrata is calling my name!
-Baby K can't come soon enough, loved getting to shower sis this weekend.
-Crawfish, barbecue and beer (and club specials) oh my.
-Love a day just for you mammasita!

p.s. take a look at last week's Key Lime Pie recipe post if you missed, it's a must make dessert! In fact, I'm making it again tomorrow!

Bites of My Life

Late night bites, but bites none the less. Happily jumping back into bed tonight after my lack of sleep from the weekend. All worth it though after being reunited with all of my best friends to celebrate our Madeline before she gets hitched this summer. The first to go in our nitch, so we had to celebrate accordingly.

-Scrambled with a side of matcha.
-More Jones Assembly menu tastings last week and I single handily took down this whole jar of candied bacon.
-Our chefs have been cranking out the most delicious eats, like this blood orange and burrata dish with lavender infused olive oil. On the menu this summer at The Jones
-When your friend texts you to simply come over to teach her how to make a moscow mule, but then your night turns into a quest around town to find the best moscow mule in the city. Stay tuned for more reviews, but Sidecar is already impressing us.
-Because I can't drink alcohol and not munch on something. And because Sidecar get's all of their food from their sister restaurant Broadway 10, you know anything on their menu will be delish.
-The week continued with brunch tastings for The Jones. Wood fired frittata, yes please!
-Wheels down in Scottsdale and first stop was for brunch and multiple mimosas.
-First day in the sun in about 8 months and in traditional Annie fashioned, got fried to a crisp...
-#madsbach had all the views in beautiful Scottsdale, AZ
-I fell in love with the frozen mojito at Sumo Maya a year ago and have been counting down the days until I knew I would be reunited with it again.
-All reunited for our gal!
-Serious restaurant crush at The Henry before heading out of town.

Bites of My Life

I was scrolling back through my Instagram the other day and noticed how my feed changes with the seasons. My images felt warm and comforting in the winter months, but have become brighter and more vibrant as spring has arrived. It's a visual reminder of how life has been more colorful recently. Figuratively and literally.

I have a yummy recipe post coming tomorrow and a very special birthday to celebrate on Saturday! But for now, let's take a bite of a very colorful week.

-Loving my new Blogging For Books cookbook. Pictured here: Salt and Pepper Pork with Cucumber Salad from "Dinner, Changing the Game."
-Now that it's warm out, I've been guzzling Le Croix like it's my job.
-The J Burger, coming soon to The Jones Assembly
-My review for the revamped Iguana went live last week!
-This coffee speaks to me.
-We are testing out the lunch menu at work for our new concept The Jones Assembly, mentioned above. And let me just tell you it is the hardest part of my job ;)
-Celebrated one year of my favorite foodie podcast, OKC Over Easy. I love the fun people and experiences I've had because of my friend Mal starting OOE. You can hear my 5 minutes of fame in the birthday episode here
-In a sea of all things diamonds and glittery in prep for the 10th annual Cleats & Cocktails
-Loved getting to work with old friends and new friends to make Cleats & Cocktails a success!
-The only nutritious thing I ate on Saturday.
-Really getting good at this whole homemade matcha thing.
-Avocado sweet potato toast is all kinds of amazing.

Bites of My Life

Happy April! You know what they say, April showers... It's currently raining out my window as I cozy up in bed on Sunday night. I am loooooooving this start to spring rain/storms. I weirdly love crazy storms and tornado weather, but this light rain we have been having, especially at night is the ultimate sleep medicine. Although, I'm trying to hurry through this post without falling asleep so I can stay up to watch the finale of Big Little Lies. I'm so sad and mad it's the last episode, but cannot wait for the plot to unravel.

-Trying to make salads not boring.
-"Why are you dressed like a cowboy?" -Mom, "Cause this is trendy right now." -Me. Ugh.
-When you forgot you had eggs boiling on the stove and go for a walk. At least it was just the eggs that burned and not the whole house...
-Guacamole trio (or quad) at Iguana Mexican Grill.
-I have had this thing for wallpaper recently. How great is this, in the bathrooms at Iguana.
-Back on my homemade matcha game and I think I'm starting to nail my recipe. Still working on it before I share it!
-I never used dry shampoo until this year and now I can't live without. Just got started using Lazy Dry Shampoo and I love it. You apply it at night with a brush and let all the natural ingredients sink in while you sleep!
-Did someone say frose`, yes way! This is going to be my summer drink c/o The Jones Assembly
-Doing what the bible says, the food bible in this case (Bon Appetit).
-Friday night grill out.
-Beef short rib stuffed bell pepper. Stella keeps reminding me why it's favorite brunch spot in OKC.
-Living room inspo from a home tour this weekend.
-Kettle corn is a very acceptable dinner.
-Can't stop making my Perfect CCCs. Check out my insta to see how I've been changing them up recently!
-A lick here, a lick there. New recipe post coming later this week!

Bites of My Life

Week 1 January, done. Easing back into the work grind was a bit easier than expected. The cherry on top was that after a full week we were granted with a little snowy treat in Oklahoma! Snow boots, furry collared coat, fuzzy socks and lots of movies were enjoyed.

Week 1 of Whole 30 is also done! I was a bit of a broken record with eggs for breakfast, butternut squash soup for lunch and roasted artichoke lemon zoodles, loosely based off this, for dinner. I through in a few other options but it was too good to change up.

Lastly, I got to try a new workout studio (you've got try it), celebrated an amazing friend's birthday and bid farewell to another friend as she takes off for adventures in Denver. Ended the weekend by a fire watching the Golden Globes and seeing La La Land sweep the awards. Hello award season, I love you!

-Two scrambled eggs over spinach with a little turmeric, 21 seasoning salute (I use it on everrrrrrything) and Maldon salt (maldon salt is like fairy dust and you need some)!
-This soup is one of my favorite recipes of all time. Taken up a notch with crispy prosciutto to top.
-Last week's Bites About Town feat. SALAD. What OKC bites do you want to see next? Comment below.
-Another W30 fav is banana slices laid out, sprinkled with cinnamon, a bit of pink Himalayan sea salt and my favorite almond butter.
-Bulletproof coffee is the only way to drink coffee on Wholev30. It's been around for a while, but I'm finally really jumping on board. My recipe is fresh brewed coffee, a spoon of coconut butter, a spoon of homemade ghee, a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg then whizzed up in the blender to get it frothhhhhay.
-My gym looks like a giant igloo in the snow.
-The lunch board made it's first return this Whole30. This was my staple last round!
-Sunday soakin' made into garlic cashew cream sauce.
-Turmeric Chicken Zoodle soup prepped for lunches this week. Recipe coming ASAP because it's GOLD.
-Meal prep in all shades of green and orange.
