Bites of My Life

Back-to-back-to-back busy weekends and spring allergies on high alert finally caught up to me. I had a good old-fashioned cold for all of last week. The worst part of a cold is there is no quick fix. Just multiple days trying to get as much rest as possible, taking DayQuill and Claritin-D around the clock, drinking tea, and trying to get my immune system up and ready for, you guessed it, another busy weekend. I attended wedding #4 out of what I’m anticipating to be 4 out of 11 I have for 2021…

I’m settling into a week of meals at home, exercise, and some R&R. I have very few plans on the calendar and I’m keeping it that way!

-A go-to salad of mine that I craved while feeling under the weather. Romaine, shredded rotisserie chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, avocado, pickled red onions, and homemade balsamic dressing.
-Celebrated two besties last Tuesday, one who is off to New York next month (not pictured) and the other who got into SMU grad school!
-The said celebration would have typically included a martini, but for me included a mar-tea-ni! Hot tea for the win at Hudson House!
-On a Cava kick. Playing around with my perfect combination, but this one sure was good. 1/2 splendid greens 1/2 right rice, 1/2 roasted veggies 1/2 grilled chicken, hummus, harissa, crazy feta, cucumber, tomatoes & onions, and kalamata olives with skhug on the side!
-Living vicariously through the pictures Kathleen was sending our family after sweet Elle’s first dance recital. Both of my sisters and I grew up dancing, and I think we’ve all been waiting for the day for our kids/nieces to get to start dance.
-When the Ole Miss wedding proved two things you never knew you needed on the dance floor: fake mustaches and a 90’s country cover band.
-What a night celebrating The Kells! Way too much fun with this whole group.
-Powered through the rain and a hangover to go scope out Target’s new designer collab collection with Aleix, Rixo, and more. While everything was very fun and bright, the sizes were already limited to only very small and very large left, and most pieces were a little lackluster IRL.
-Simple Sunday scramble for dinner: 3 eggs, sauteed heirloom tomatoes and red onion, fresh basil, pesto, and parm on top!

Marathon weekend my goodness! It felt good to be in Dallas all week and weekend, but my weekend was packed to the brim. I’m surprisingly more energized on this Monday morning than I thought I would be. After a fun dinner and night out Friday, then a Farmer’s Market run, private afternoon concert, and a wedding Saturday, to go straight into a baby shower and another concert Sunday, I’m not sure how I made it through.

Bites 402.png

-No need to make your own, when Central Market’s Maryland-style crab cakes are so good!
-Jose’s Verde Pozole is back for the summer, so a weekday lunch date for Jordan and I was a must to welcome back our favorite menu item.
-Dinner with 3 of my favorite girls at my favorite restaurant. Switched up my order a bit and I know it will be my new go-to. Order this at Alamo Club -> Kale Salad, swap the dressing with for the Miso Caesar.
-Tried Sprezza for the first time Friday night. The bucatini and decaf espresso martini have me dying to go back.
-How good is this rainbow clutch. The perfect festive accessory from Rent the Runway.
-Celebrated our Britty bride and Will!
-The cutest baby shower venue tucked into the Dallas Arboretum.
-Dallas gal pals + some celebrating Libby and baby girl Poppy coming soon!
-Official Mt. Joy groupie status with this crew. Marks #5 and already have plans to see them a 6th time this fall.

Work, wedding, work, wedding, repeat. <β€” This has been and is my schedule for the next few weeks. One wedding and two work trips down, three weddings to go. It’s exhausting being 27 sometimes let me tell you πŸ€ͺ! Not pictured below: work and wedding…LOL.

Bites 400.png

-Monday morning ritual always means an errand to return my weekly Rent the Runway picks. If you aren’t renting clothes and aren’t following Confessions, I’m not sure what you’re doing.
-Shrimpy shrimpy! New recipe post went up last week.
-Favorite spot in Dallas. Could eat the kale salad or caesar at Alamo Club once a week. At this rate… I do!
-Now serving, Wednesday tennis! Been saying I’ve wanted to take tennis lessons for the past few years, and thrilled to finally be making it happen.
-TAB turned 8 last week. She’s getting so big!
-Haven’t had protein pancakes in a minute, but they always hit the spot. I have my recipe saved in IG highlights.
-Prolon reached out if I’d be interested in their 5-day fasting-mimicking diet. I’d heard of it before and did a lot of research before starting, but I said sure! I geek out on a challenge when it comes to food. I started Saturday and was ready to throw in the towel. It’s now Monday morning, day 3, and you can call me the Prolon queen.
-Quick stop by Margaritaville on Saturday.
-Sunday funday with my L-drink….

I was forced to come back to reality after an amazing long weekend in Cabo San Lucas celebrating mi MaryKate. She gets married in a month and it was a seriously great kick-off to the countdown. We had sunny 70 degree weather, pool time, a beach day, delicious food and drinks, and made hilarious memories. This week hasn’t been so lavish, but I’m relishing in the down town before spending Easter with family.

Bites 397.png

-Still on the Blender Bombs train. it’s shocking how full these things keep me when I add to a smoothie for lunch. Annie10 gets you 10% off your order.
-Arrived in Cabo and it was an immediate change into swimsuit/start sipping on margaritas kind of mood!
-Felt like royalty having my man Sergio cook up some delicious meals. He made us fajitas, homemade pico de gallo, and the most decadent two-course breakfasts of french toast, ripe fruit, eggs, beans, bacon, fresh squeezed OJ, the works!
-Flora Farms, you were everything I dreamed of. We showed up to the sprawling grounds for brunch and snacked on farm-to-table salads, wood-fired pizzas, and this insane variation of hummuses.
-I’d be remised if I skipped over the cocktails. I opted for the mezcal pineapple and cilantro concoction and everyone else sipped down hibiscus margs.
-A seriously great bachelorette weekend for my bestie since 4th grade MaryKate!
-Ended the weekend tandem bike riding around Dallas with some serious gorgeous spring weather.

A new recipe post with Feed Feed and Immaculate Baking Co. went up last week, did you catch it? Would be perfect for your Easter Sunday spread!

We were snow covered two weeks ago, had temperatures almost in the 80s last week, and today marks the first day of March. What??

Like most, I think I’m having an extended version of the β€œSunday scaries,” when I think about us coming up on the year anniversary of the start of covid lockdown. A year. How has it been a year since this mess began? I remember every fine detail of the the week leading up to lockdown. I think I always will.

-My friend Lauren was gushing about how she had bought cereal at the store and couldn’t wait to have cereal for dinner. Being an adult is fun, how the smallest thing like cereal for dinner can sometimes seem so comforting and simple. I copied, obviously. Lauren made fun of me that my cereal looked like bird food. But I guess that’s the difference between cereal as a kid and cereal as an adult. I opt for Nature’s Path Smart Bran, almond milk, and blueberries.
-Dinner date at my favorite neighborhood restaurant, Alamo Club.
-Two basic blogger items made their way into my closet last week. This Amazon replica of the coveted Free People sweater and these Levi high-waisted skinnies make me feel far from original, but equally happy to own two basics I know I’ll wear the heck out of.
-A scrappy mini charcuterie board to kick off the weekend.
-Friday night was for ME! Post-mini cheeseboard and leftovers for dinner was a bubble bath and an early bedtime!
-Got hired to create this epic cheeseboard for a friend who was hosting a baby shower. I had way too much fun gathering ingredients and photos for inspiration. It turned out perfect and has me wanting to make more. Does anyone need to hire a charcuterie chef?
-Carly + Sam!! Congrats to two friends on the most special engagement.
-Too much fun, trouble, and karaoke when this OU crew is together. We can now officially thank the soon-to-be Cody’s for getting us all together and for the Sunday scaries.
-Sunday morning backing Perfect CCCs obviously. I always (and you should too) save a few balls of dough for the freezer. This way I’m never without cookies on a rainy day!
